Mid-Year IT Staffing Update, Part

September
30, 2004: The majority of CIOs surveyed
say their departments are understaffed
and their employees are feeling the effects.
According to our July 2004 survey of 240
IT executives, IT departments for the
most part are experiencing high to very
high levels of stress.
The
good news is that the many of CIOs surveyed
are adding staff currently or will hire
within six months, hopefully reducing
the workload on their employees. In addition
to adding staff, CIOs are relying on workforce
management strategies like selective outsourcing
and skills matrices to make the most of
the current environment.
